Create 2.1.1 Web Tools Quest

Web 2.0- It's where learning is at!

I have broken the following Web 2.0 tools into three categories.  Enjoy!

Presentation- a type of tool that allows educators or students to present information in some manner.

Prezi-cloud based presentation program that allows educators or students to present information by adding frames and clicking through the frames. This is a free tool, but it does require signing up.

Animoto-cloud based program that turns still images into a slide show.  This could be used by an educator for a brief list of instruction where a picture is necessary.  Students could also use this tool to tell a story without words.  You must sign up, and as long as the slide show is under 30 seconds it is free.  You can create longer slide shows for a subscription fee.

Storyboard-this tool is useful when planning instruction or for students to use to plan for projects.

Gliffy-cloud based program that allows you to create visual image maps, schema diagrams, etc.  Teachers can utilize this when planning or students could use it to create mind maps or schema summaries of course content. It is a free tool but does require signing up.

ToonDoo-this is a free online resource that allows students or teachers to create comic strips or storyboards.

Discussion/Collaboration

Edmodo- this is a Learning Management System (LMS) for students and teachers. Students use a code given by the teacher to add that class to their Edmodo account. The more teachers in a school use it the more helpful it is to the students. This is a free tool and contains discussion boards that allow students to post discussion replies.

Padlet- this is a virtual wall that allows people to express their thoughts on a common topic easily. It works like an online sheet of paper where people can put any content (e.g. images, videos, documents, text) anywhere on the page, together with anyone, from any device free of charge.

Dropbox-is a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily.

Microsoft OneDrive- As another form of cloud storage that can also be used to share or collaborate, OneDrive is accessible from the web, desktop, mobile devices and the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. OneDrive is free for 7GB of storage space.

PollEverywhere-a simple application that works well for live audiences using mobile devices like phones. People participate by visiting a fast mobile-friendly web page for your event, sending text messages, or using Twitter. There are different plans ranging from free to over $1400.
